Culen (Cuilén mac Ildulb) was a son of Indulf. He challenged his cousin King Dubh in battle at Duncrub in 965, and was believed to be subsequently responsible for his murder after which he became king in 967.
Culen was killed himself in 971 in Lothian by Amdarch (Riderich), son of Donald of Strathclyde, in revenge it is said after Culen carried off and raped Amdarch’s daughter.
