Zara Phillips is the daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips. She was born on 15 May 1981 and is the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. She does not hold a royal title and is not referred to as Her Royal Highness. She was educated at Beaudersert Preparatory, Port Regis, and at like other members of the Royal Family at Gordonstoun school in Scotland before attending Exeter University where she qualified as an equine physiotherapist.

Like both her parents Zara is an accomplished horse rider and eventing champion. She won individual and team events in the 2005 European Eventing Championship, individual gold in the 2006 World Equestrian Games, and team gold in the 2007 European Eventing Championship. She was voted 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and awarded Member of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to equestrian sports. She carries out duties on behalf of the Royal Family and attends various events for equestrian and children’s charities including Inspire, Cauldwell Charitable Trust and the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Her boyfriends included National Hunt jockey Richard Johnson with whom she lived for 4 years, and Rugby player Mike Tindall who was a member of the England World Cup Rugby winning squad. They met in Sydney, Australia, during the 2003 Rugby World Cup after being introduced by Zara’s cousin Prince Harry. Mike Tindall is currently the 2010/11 season captain of Gloucester Rugby club. They were married on 30 July 2011 at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland, three months after the wedding of her cousin Prince William. The church is on the Royal Mile and the reception was in nearby Holyroodhouse which is The Queen’s official residence in Scotland. They live at their home in Gloucestershire.

Their first child Mia Grace Tindall was born on 17th January 2014 at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, and their second daughter Lena Elizabeth Tindall on 18th June 2018. Like their mother Zara neither Mia nor Lena hold royal titles and are simply known as Miss Tindall. Their son Lucas Philip Tindall was born on 21 March 2021.
